EXP3 - Sketchup Models of Architecture

Since we were asked to draw the one and two, point perspectives, I chose to re-create them in SketchUp as Keller and Kerr's offices.

Helen Keller's Office and Elevator

Keller's Office was made unique due to her disability. Re-creating one of the perspective drawings, I created a space that was suitable for Keller, leaving only one side of the building open, with the other side blocked - having openings as the windows. Along the sides, I have included blocks which would have braille all over them - including which room/level she is in, how far from the edge she is, and where the elevator is located.

Similarly, the elevator is designed to assist Keller's disability - including hand rails and overall, being a closed in area. Like Keller's office, the elevator contains blocks all along the sides consisting of braille to assist her of knowing her location. The windows provided in the elevator replicate the windows found in the office.

Miranda Kerr's Office and Elevator

Like Keller's office space, Kerr's is a re-creation of one of the perspective drawings - the one I found most interesting. By re-creating and adjusting its levels, I creating a multilevel office with large, spacey platforms as each level.

Representing the teachings of Buddah, the wheel is one very important Buddhist symbol. For this reason, I chose to use it as an influence on the design of Kerr's elevator - relating and connecting it to her Buddhist belief.

The difference between the two elevators is that Keller's is closed and Kerr's is open (more like a platform). For the reason of having a disability, I chose to keep Keller's elevator closed and secure for her own safety. On the other hand, I chose to design Kerr's as open due to her belief - having the feeling of security while on the elevator and not having the need to hold onto something or rely on something.

The Bridges

The bridges are just something I came up with in SketchUp. I found the designs interesting and the cross-hatching effective in relation to the environment I created.

The Meeting Space and Dining Table

The dining table designed allows both clients to be seated comfortably and in their own space. Also replicating a desk, it allows plenty of space for each client with the space of a desk, and storage space under the table.
